PowerLight Technologies

Extending Range and Endurance for Autonomous Combat Systems

About this Event

PowerLight Technologies has developed an optical power beaming system that can send power more than a mile without wires.

One of the first use-cases for this remarkable technology is keeping autonomous drones in flight longer by beaming power to them from the ground. PowerLight has been working with the Department of Defense to power surveillance and communications drones.

In addition to DOD, PowerLight is working with commercial industry partners to deploy wireless and fiber-optic laser power solutions in support of the demands of new technology, particularly those driven by the expanding communication networks and autonomous assets.

Through the beam, power can be distributed safely night and day, in any weather, over distances and at altitude – extending mission time or on-station time, from near and far. The innovative beam-shaping design minimizes losses across the transfer and maximizes output at the other end. PowerLight has completed years of critical R&D, testing, demonstration, and 3rd-party validations largely using non-dilutive government funding.

Register now to watch this Fireside Chat with PowerLight CEO, Tim Jenks, Mike Hartnett, PowerLight VP of Business Development, and Doug Brown, Deputy for Science and Technology and CENTCOM, to hear how PowerLight has been working with the Department of Defense to wirelessly power surveillance and communications drones in-flight. Mike and Doug will provide unique insight into how power beaming will be used and why it is so important to today’s missions.
